Martin Sell scores a superb second round score of 6 under par putting him at the top of the leader-board with just 3 groups left on the course.
Mark Laskey, the overnight leader was tied with 4 holes remaining but blew himself out of contention with a card wrecking double bogey 6 on hole 15. Steve Surry also tied and playing with Selly also had a double this time, painfully, it was on the final hole, ouch!
So just one last possible "fly in the ointment" Paul Maddy, just one shot behind needing to birdie the long par 5, 18th hole to force a playoff. Two excellent shots to just short of this par 5 green then a stunning chip to just 2 inches of the cup a very well deserved birdie and off we go for a playoff.
Sudden death, starting on the first, brilliant golf by both players with 2 birdies, 2 pars then the long Par 5 3rd hole, both players nip & tuck, then their approach shots, Maddy 8 feet from the flag and Sell inside of 3 feet, surely 2 more birdies?
Maddy putts first, solidly into the back of the hole Sell steps up to what must be the easiest formality, shock, horror, the ball stays above the ground spinning out of the cup, causing the spectators to gasp in disbelief.
Another sterling win for Paul, don't be fooled by the boyish good looks and and charming smile, Paul Maddy is possibly the toughest competitor on the circuit. A very well deserved and hard fought win.
The bridesmaids spot again for Martin, winning £2000 and £1000 respectively, however with Martin Sells fantastic season, he tops The Titleist Order of Merit and therefore is awarded a Full Titleist Contract for 2013 an absolutely wonderful prize courtesy of Titleist & FootJoy.
Jamega wishes to thank Titleist/FootJoy for their massive contribution also including the Top10 of the OOM receiving a ball, shoe & glove contract.
