Dan Brooks takes 2nd win in playoff against Sam Robinson at a sun drenched Donnington Grove, winning £6000.

Report below.

Extra Time Win for Dan Brooks
at Donnington Grove.

Donnington Grove took the golfers back to the time when “Mr Par” was going to do well and so it proved with just thirteen players doing better than the strict par of, level fours, and 72.
Christopher Gill found his game and headed the field with a 4 under 68, close behind  on a Challenge Tour break, sat Dan Brooks who was joined by Sam Robinson (Alps Tour)and Francis McGuirk on 3 under par. Hovering in the shadows waiting to pounce on 2 under par came former European Tour players Lee James and Mark Mouland who were joined by Oliver Reddick, Paul Maddy and Michael Bush.
Scoring on the second day is generally better than the first as the players learn to read the course and so it proved with Ben Banks improving on his first round of 78 by ten shots to card a four under par 68! Former Amateur Champion Warren Bladon and Kris Jones forced their way into the prize fund with classy 4 under par scores of 68 to finish on 3 under par for the tournament.
Matthew Swales who finished the day with a blemish free card of 5 under par 67 and he looked for a time to be heading to a play-off as the news from the course showed Lee James , Sam Robinson and Dan Brooks homing in on a final total of 139. However the Earth shook as Robinson leapt into the air with fist pump to celebrate a 25 foot birdie putt at the last to snatch the lead from Swales by one and look like a likely winner on 6 under for the event.
However playing in the final group and standing on the 18th tee at 5 under, having birdied two of the last four holes Dan Brooks knew a birdie was required to tie Robinson and force a play-off. The 8 footer for his birdie took the required 6 inch drop and both Brooks and Robinson headed for the first tee to commence the head to head battle for the first prize of £6,000.It was over very quickly as Brooks emulated Robinsons putt on the 18th and drained a huge 25 footer for a birdie and his second victory of the year. Although disappointed, Sam Robinson felt a little better when he received his second place cheque for £3,000.
The size of the field this week showed that The Jamega Pro Golf Tour is becoming popular with players from the higher reaches of The Challenge Tour and is a perfect place to gain experience playing against some of the best players in Tournament Golf at the moment.

For those wishing to play a tough but fair “real” golf course we highly recommend you visit Donnington Grove, a very popular choice with big golfing societies and small groups alike.
