Moul Digs in for Win

Jamie MoulJamie Moul put together two tremendous rounds of golf at Dummer Golf Club in Hampshire to win by a single shot from the 2015 defending champion Craig Hinton.

The first round leader Ryan Boyns was plodding along quite nicely for a decent round after a one under par front nine but then he let loose with a volley of 6 birdies over the back nine which included 5 in a row from the fourteenth.

The much travelled man, Jonathan Mullaney, Rob Sutton and the eventual winner Moul lay in wait on 6 under whilst a whole host of experienced players made up an impressive posse to chase down Boynes, including the eventual runner-up Hinton.

In relatively easy scoring conditions on a well prepared golf course more than half the field either equalled par or bettered it and one of those was the young amateur Daniel Smith from Princes Golf Club, who shot level par.

The second day proved slightly more difficult in much breezier conditions and it was going to be the patient player who would triumph in the end.

All the fireworks came from the penultimate two groups with Hinton completing a second flawless round of golf that again contained 5 birdies and no bogies to post 10 under par and he then waited to see if he would be caught.

In the penultimate group Moul and Liam Harper were having a right old scrap but Harper could not make up any ground on Moul and with Hinton in the clubhouse on 10 under Moul knew that a par at the last would see him home the winner.

So with that par Jamie Moul broke his duck on the Jamega Pro Golf Tour and was proclaimed the very worthy winner.

The golf course at Dummer is very well presented and maintained to a high standard, as is indeed the crème de la crème of bacon rolls. These should NOT be avoided!

In the newly refurbished clubhouse you will be greeted by cheerful and helpful staff and it was a pleasure to hold an event there.

The tour heads back into Wales next week to Machynys Golf Club, so pack your bags and come and join us at this fantastic course. This will be the third tournament of the four event first Mini Order of Merit that will decide who gets a free season on the 2016 / 2017 Algarve Pro Golf Tour.

Remember, we have a total of 5 Mini Order of Merits throughout the season and each winner will receive that free season on the Algarve Pro Golf Tour, a prize worth in excess of £4,000.
