New for 2010

Well for most it’s been a long hard winter, that is apart from the most fortunate, who are able to slip southwards to play and practice in sunnier climes, good luck to you but we are jealous.

Well at Jamega we haven’t let the moss grow, we have to keep the tour moving forward improvements have to be made and I believe in this “off season” we’ve certainly been busy doing just that.

The 2010 Schedule being the first challenge as fitting 20 tournaments into our short “summer” season here in UK is always problematic and a bit of a squeeze but hey ho we not only managed it by our target date but once again we actually published before the end of November.

I’m sure you’ll all agree with some excellent new additions to our established and proven list.  Hayling Island from which we’ve just returned, our meeting with the Managing Secretary and head Green Keeper was very constructive and I’m sure it will prove to be a fantastic early season venue. Superb condition with staggering views of the estuary, a gentle hint may I suggest that you don’t play it blind, it’s a “real” links. Don’t forget it’s a limited field and it’s filling up fast, enter now.

Much later in the year we have our other new “gems” all in August. Firstly, Gatton Manor, tree lined with meandering streams, on the Surrey/Sussex border, a beauty! Then we head north to The Shire, Seve’s first course design in the UK, a real test, some spectacular holes.

Last of the new additions is Luton Hoo, not a bunker in sight! The land is managed and controlled by English Heritage and although permission was granted for a Golf Course the restriction was for NO bunkering. Strangely as one navigates around the course you don’t really miss them, trees, swales, hollows, humps and bumps streams and lakes.....who needs sand? Come and play it we’d love your opinion.

Changes and improvements

We’ve decided to introduce our own flags and pins, a change in the colour of our tee markers also a new order for our tees, pencils remain the same but a few more thousand required! All we hope for an improved image.

Without doubt our biggest and most significant challenge/improvement has been the re-design of our website, massive changes and additions to hopefully enhance your overall experience. New additions include, “personal player profiles”, you are invited to upload your own background details, also a facility for you to upload photos of your own choosing and of course sponsors details. A general photo gallery with history and action photographs.

Whilst on the subject of photos, at the first couple of events Simon Murdoch (an ex Jamega Player, now branching out into Golf Photography) will be available to produce a series of professional pictures for your own portfolio, please take advantage of this opportunity as it will enable you to enhance your  sponsor visibility. This would also give us access to a series of photographs to use when you feature in the prize winners list.

Also a player/Sponsor forum allowing you all to enquire/ask on a range of subjects; sharing transport/accommodation, arrange practice round partners, discuss last tournament or one due to start in the near future, whatever! generally bounce off each other, the more you use this facility the better and more useful it will become.

Finally new for 2010, we have a new Marketing Team full of enthusiasm, some great ideas and a strong belief that they’ll be able to move the tour forward with a solid sponsor base and in the long term television coverage and a prize-fund package to equal the best satellite tours in Europe.

We eagerly await your comments!
